Acupuncture & Functional Medicine Care

I provide two different types of care. Many new patients are unsure which one they need — please read this first.

1) Which Appointment Do You Need?

A. Acupuncture Treatment

Choose this if you have:

  • Neck, shoulder, back, hip, or knee pain

  • Sciatica

  • Headache or migraine

  • Acute injury

  • Seasonal allergies

  • Stress or tension

  • Pregnancy-related nausea

  • 1–2 simple health complaints

You do NOT need a Functional Medicine consultation first for these conditions.

At your visit, you will fill out a short form and I will treat you with acupuncture and may also include:

  • cupping

  • gua sha

  • electro-acupuncture

  • infrared therapy

  • low level laser therapy (LLLT)

B. Functional Medicine Consultation (1 hour)

Choose this if you have:

  • Hormone imbalance

  • Infertility / IVF support

  • Perimenopause or menopause symptoms

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Anxiety / depression

  • Insomnia

  • Digestive problems

  • Multiple health concerns

  • Symptoms that have not improved despite treatment

This visit is very different from acupuncture.
We spend the full hour reviewing your history, symptoms, labs, and root causes and creating a personalized treatment plan.

Insurance does NOT cover Functional Medicine consultations.

Fee: $360

Available in-person or telehealth (Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp).
Out-of-state and international patients welcome.

Important (Infertility & Hormone Patients)!!!

All infertility and hormone-related cases require the consultation FIRST.

Why?
Insurance acupuncture visits are typically limited to up to 45 minutes of treatment. Without understanding your labs, hormones, and history first, acupuncture alone becomes guesswork. The consultation allows me to design a targeted treatment plan and usually shortens the time to results.

Please bring:

  • lab results (any recent labs from your PCP)

  • supplement list

  • medications

  • questions

I will email questionnaires for you to complete beforehand.

3) Insurance Information

In-Network

Out-of-Network (benefits vary)

  • United Healthcare

Not accepted

  • Medicare Supplemental

  • MassHealth

  • Tufts

  • Cigna

I use a billing service to verify benefits.
You will receive your coverage details by email once verification is completed.

Typical verification time is ~24 hours

Important:
Many insurance plans only cover acupuncture for:

  • pain conditions

  • pregnancy nausea

  • medical necessity

“Maintenance” acupuncture is often not covered even if the policy lists unlimited visits.

4) Fees

Functional Medicine

Initial Consultation (1 hour) — $360

Follow-up lab review — $60 (10 minutes, telehealth available)

Functional medicine lab testing is an additional cost and is not covered by insurance.

Acupuncture

Initial treatment – $180 or insurance co-pay

Follow-up treatment — $120 or insurance co-pay

Includes additional therapies (as appropriate):
cupping, gua sha, electro-acupuncture, infrared, laser therapy

5) Payment Methods

Accepted:

  • Credit / Debit card

  • FSA / HSA

  • Apple Pay

  • Check

  • Cash

(Returned checks: $25 fee)

Telehealth visits can be paid online.

6) FSA & HSA

Many patients use FSA or HSA accounts for consultations and treatments.
Please contact your employer or insurance provider for details about your plan.

7) Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are available in clinic.

A thoughtful option for birthdays, holidays, or for a loved one who is curious about acupuncture or integrative medicine.
