Nutrition Deficiency:
This is a big topic. I am going to expand this section soon. This is the major problem most people have no idea. I sometimes use Spectracells Lab’s Intra-cellular blood test to find out which nutrients are actually entering the cell to make us alive and thrive and which ones are the ones still floating around in externally in the bloodstream but not entering the cells. For the people who have no access to this test, I see many of my patients are low in Omega Fatty Acid (fish oil), Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin D, B6, B12, and Chromium deficiency.

  • B-1 (Thiamine Deficiency) – very common in men and women who have thyroid issues and people who are gluten-free diet for a while. The symptoms are diverse like poor memory, irritability, sleep disturbances, muscle cramps and weakness, blurry vision, nausea, easy to get frustrated, etc. You will feel so much better by supplementing by taking one tiny capsule of very specific B-1 called Benfotiamine. Not all Thiamine (B-1) are the same.
  • Omega 3 Fatty Acid deficiency
  • Vitamin A deficiency (Homocysteine blocks the metabolism of Vitamin A and Nutrigenomics SNPs called BCMO1 is (+/+), your body is not able to convert vitamin A from beta carotene (for example contained in carrots). You may take the specific vitamin A called “vitamin A palmitate” but be careful about taking the large dose because vitamin A is fat-soluble vitamin means it might accumulate in the liver.
  • Vitamin D deficiency – this is another big topic! I see a healthy range is 55-75 but most of my patients are under this functional range from 9 – 32. Please check this section and read vitamin D deficiency.
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency (bring the marker called Homocysteine UP)
  • Vitamin B6 deficiency – video to watch (bring the marker called Homocysteine UP)
  • Folate deficiency (bring the marker called Homocysteine UP)
  • Ferritin (Iron Storage Marker) deficiency as well as Iron
  • Magnesium deficiency (the best test is Magnesium RBC) blood test
  • Zinc deficiency causes of Zinc Deficiency & Zinc deficiency quiz

Malabsorption:

  • Fat malabsorption due to lack of bile or thickening of bile – This is I see a lot in my clinic. I will start with the major symptoms caused by fat malabsorption, mostly caused by poor (thickening) of bile secreted by your liver and stored in the gallbladder. Weight gain, fatigue, moodiness, all kinds of digestive issues includes chronic gas & bloating, abdominal pain, fatty light-colored stools, nausea and vomiting, headaches and migraines, eye strains, ringing in the ear (high pitch noise), TMJ, fibromyalgia, chronic acne, eczema, rashes, itchy skin, yellowing of the skin, chemical and food sensitivities, dry skin and dry scalp, and pain between the shoulder blades mostly on the right side, IT band pain, chronic running nose, hormonal imbalances both men and women, and diagnosed as Non-Alcohol Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
  • The solution to these health issues if the fat malabsorption is caused by thickening of bile juice
    • Get rid of bad fat like commercial vegetable oils and margarine, reduce sugar intake, eat foods benefits to liver and gallbladder like avocados, berries, garlic, leafy greens, radishes, ginger, lemon, lime, apple cider vinegar, celery, cucumber, mint, cilantro, parsley, nuts, fatty fish, high-quality olive oil, green tea, and beets (not for people who has oxalate toxicity)
    •  Get ox bile or gallbladder support supplement (with milk thistle, artichoke, dandelion greens, taurine, L-methionine, guggle, Inositol), and digestive enzyme with HCL for a month.
    • Increase your intake of water. Coconuts water (w/o sugar) will be good for the electrolyte.
    • Move more. I did not say “joint the gym near you” but increase the movement. Take stairs, park your car far from the entrance, squat, stretch, push-ups, etc…
    • Sleep more. While you are sleeping, your body is not stopping all the activities but rather all the organs are working. The heart is beating, the lung is helping you to breathe in and out and your lymphatic system and the brain are working hard to draining the toxins out from the body.
    • If you have a far-infrared sauna, get in for 20 min. everyday to sweat the toxins out. We have only three exists for toxins to come out. Urine, stool, and sweat. (The chart on the right – courtesy of Mayo Clinic)
